Steve DoreySteve studied photography at the (then) Regent Street Polytechnic between 1968 & 1971 and gained his diploma specialising in architectural photography. In 1975 he became an Associate of the Institute of Incorporated Photographers (now the British Institute of Professional Photography). He worked for two years as a member of the Post Office Photographic Unit in London before making the move to Gloucestershire in 1974. Steve explains; "I was tired of travelling into London every day, I used to drive out into the countryside whenever possible, so when the opportunity arose I made the move to go and live there" Although this meant a cut in salary and two years working as a colour printer Steve has never regretted the step. In 1977 he started working for Gloucestershire County Council, first as a Cotswold Warden and later as a Senior Countryside Officer. He was then promoted to Senior Environmental Planning Officer, promoting sustainability issues and editing the county's environmental audit, a post from which he has recently retired. Steve is married to Carolyn, a children's nurse, and they are blessed with four sons! |
