About

Stephen Dorey

Steve studied photography at the (then) Regent Street Polytechnic between 1968 & 1971 and gained his diploma specialising in architectural photography. In 1975 he became an Associate of the Institute of Incorporated Photographers (now the British Institute of Professional Photography).

He worked for two years as a member of the Post Office Photographic Unit in London before making the move to Gloucestershire in 1974 to work as a colour printer. In 1977 he started working for Gloucestershire County Council, first as a Cotswold Warden and later as a Senior Countryside Officer. He was then promoted to Senior Environmental Planning Officer, promoting sustainability issues and editing the county’s environmental audit – a post from which he has since retired.

Steve is married to Carolyn, a retired children’s nurse, and they have four sons and one grandson.
